Markita Pheal made a super showing, winning three running events in the first Logan County All-Comers track meet of the season April 13. The Lady
Cougar junior took first in the 100, 200 and 400 meter runs.
Coach Greg Howard’s Lady Cougars also got a pair of firsts from sophomore Jessica Anderson in the shot put and the discus, and another first place from
freshman Claire Hopkins in the 300 Hurdles.
Placing second for the Lady Cougars was the 4X400 Relay team of Anderson, Kelsey Markham, Brittany Harper and Ashely Munday. Picking up a third for the
host team was Hopkins in the 100 Hurdles
The Lady Cougars placed second in the meet behind the dominant team, Muhlenberg County. Trigg County was third.
Although Russellville didn’t have enough competitors to compete for overall supremacy, some individuals did well. Second place finishers from
Russellville were Nikki Rose in the 100 and tying in the 200 with Davonna Sydnor, Mia Matthews in the 100 Hurdles, Passion Townsend in the long jump,
the 4X 200 Relay team of Cassie Clayton, Jalonda Wells, Heather Spivey and Peyton Taylor, and the 4X100 Relay, whose team members’ names were not
listed.
RHS competitors placing third were Sydnor in the 100, Mia Bethea in the 300 Hurdles, Townsend in the long jump, and the 4X100 Relay team of Rose,
Sydnor, Bethea and Townsend.
