Kennedy Nichols and Sarah Beth Hale combined for 39 points and 20 rebounds to lead the Logan County Lady Cougars to a 66-60 win over visiting Daviess County Tuesday. They also were best on the team at the line, with each hitting 4 of 6 free throws.
Hale’s stat sheet is loaded. She had 19 points, 9 rebounds, 6 steals, 2 blocks, 2 deflections, and an assist. She hit three 3-pointers and scored 9 points in the decisive fourth quarter.
Kennedy scored 20 points, pulled down 11 rebounds, and added 2 deflections. She scored 6 points in the final stanza.
Peyton Vanzant carried the team in the third quarter with 7 points, and she was 4 of 4 at the line in the first half to finish with 11 points. She also had 3 steals and 2 assists.
Blayke Bingham contributed 7 points and 5 rebounds. She hit 3 free throws along the way.
The team’s only senior, Meredith Johnson, was the assist leader while Carlie Alvis and the Vanzant twins—Paige and Peyton—added 2 each. Paige also joined her sister with 3 steals each.
All 11 Lady Cougars in uniform played, 9 of them in at least three quarters.
Bailey Hume led the Lady Panthers with 24 points and MiKayla Hamilton added 11.
Coach Finley Baird’s Lady Cougars are tied for the third best record in the Fourth Region at 4-1. Their only loss has been to defending regional champion Russell County (6-1). Daviess County of the Third Region fell to 2-5.
