Lady Cougars dominate four opponents in late season

The Logan County Lady Cougars dominated their opponents 42-6 in their four final wins of the softball regular season. They did with power hitting and stingy pitching.

A synopsis of the victories follows:

Lady Cougars 4, Ohio County 0

Sydney Lee pitched the shutout, scattering six hits while walking none and striking out seven.

Erika Lambert also pitched well for the Lady Eagles, giving up no runs the first three innings. Logan scored the winning run in the fourth on Brea Croslin’s home run. Then three insurance runs came home in the sixth. KJ Page and Croslin singled, Lee walked to load the bases and Kennedy Nichols cleared the bases with a three-run double.

Nichols had singled in the fourth for Logan’s only other hit in the game. Lee and Abby Hinton drew the only walks of the contest.

Lady Cougars 10, Lady Panthers 1

Hinton held Russellville to the single run on four hits and a walk while striking out four.

Croslin and Shelby Gettings each homered. Croslin also doubled, as did Nichols.

Page got four of the 15 hits put in the books by Coach Mark Wood’s team. Gettings, Croslin and Abby Canler got two each. Also adding a hit were Lee, Nichols, Vanzant, Hinton and Jillian McLellan.

Gettings had three RBIs with Croslin and Nichols adding two each. Croslin scored three runs with Page, McLellan and Gettings adding two each. Also scoring was Hailey Collins.

Hinton didn’t allow a run until the seventh inning when Chloe Whitescarver doubled and Taryn Gray singled her in. Also getting a hit were Jaylah Kees and Brooklyn Ray. Amiyah Collier was the only Lady Panther to walk.

Gray and Addie Mosier pitched for Coach Ryan Davenport’s RHS team, recording almost identical statistics.

Lady Cougars 18, Glasgow 3

A total of 21 hits—6 of them for extra bases—led to these 18 runs in this rout. Rosie Kerchenski and Page each homered, Hinton tripled, and Gettings, Paige Vanzant and Lee all doubled.

Page, Lee, Vanzant, Kerchenski and Gettings each banged out three hits. Croslin and Nichols each had two hits while Canler and Hinton added one each.

The speedy Page scored four runs with Croslin, Lee, Canler, Kerchenski, Gettings and Shaina Johnson crossed the plate twice each.

Vanzant totaled five RBIs, Kerchenski three, and Page, Lee, Canler and Hinton two each. Canler and Kerchenski lofted sacrifice flies.

Hinton pitched the entire game, giving up the three runs on six hits. Glasgow coaches eft pitcher Taylor Murphy on the mound for all five innings. Fifteen of the runs were earned.

Lady Cougars 10, Muhlenberg 2

Nichols homered twice with Croslin and Lee also hitting home runs. Canler doubled twice, and Page doubled among her three hits. Vanzant and Presley Harris added two hits each. Croslin, Lee and Gettings added a hit each.

Nichols and Vanzant each drove in two runs while Croslin, Lee, and Gettings added RBI each, Gettings’ via sacrifice fly. Canler drew the lone walk.

Croslin, Nichols and Canler each scored two runs with Page, Lee, Vanzant and Harris scoring one each.

Lee pitched the complete game, giving up just one earned run on three hits and four walks. She struck out three batters.
