Russellville High School Assistant Principal Cameron Jackson has seen his duties increased dramatically.
Athletic Director Kyle Yates announced by Twitter Monday morning that Jackson has been named head girls basketball coach for the Lady Panthers.

Jackson is ready to start his twelfth year in public education in Kentucky. He has worked in a variety of educational settings, serving as a special education teacher at an elementary school as well as spending the past nine years at the high school level. In addition to his teaching duties, Jackson has served on a school SBDM Council, volunteered his time as a counselor with a local YMCA, served as an assistant athletic director, and been an active participant in Title IX reform.
Beyond the classroom, Jackson has worked as a graduate assistant basketball coach with the Kentucky State Men's Basketball Program, served as head girls basketball coach at Campbellsville High School (2008-12), and most recently was the head boys basketball coach at Berea High School (2012-17).
The Lady Panthers struggled to a 5-20 record last year, but Coach Booth had five middle school students on the varsity roster, some of whom were major contributors to the team. Some key underclassmen return, too.
Russellville has used administrators in athletic roles over the years. Long-time football coach John Myers served as principal at the same time for several years. Boys basketball coach Rex Booth is currently the boys basketball head coach.
The school system has administrators who understand the important role athletic competition plays in the development of the well-round student. Superintendent Bart Flener was a highly successful college and high school basketball coach. RHS Principal Ben Bruni coached football for several years, including serving as a head coach at two area high schools. Jackson’s fellow assistant principal, Carlos Quarles, was a basketball coach for a number of years.
