Logan swim team 'fantastic' at Warren County

Logan County swim coach Rachelle Wharton called her team’s performance at the Warren County Holliday Classic Saturday ‘fantastic.’

“After losing 12 seniors the last two years, I really thought we would be down in numbers, but are staying consistently around the 25-30 range,” she says. “Lots of work this year with 12 new swimmers, but they are good athletes and are performing.”

Senior Emanuele Agresti finished second in the 100 Breaststroke with a 1:09.88, fourth in the 100 Freestyle with a 56.82, third in the 200 Medley Relay along with Wesley Abney, Jake Orndorff and John Hendricks at 1:56.94, and fifth in the 200 Freestyle Relay with Heath Cross, Orndorff and Abney at 1:45.77.

FreshmanKameron Myers placed fourth in the 100 Freestyle with a 1:16.53.

Coach Wharton is most pleased that the Cougars and Lady Cougars recorded 30 Personal Best times in 33 events. The top drops:

14 seconds: 500 freestyle (John Hendricks);

13 seconds: 100 Breaststroke (Emanuele Agtesti)

10 seconds: Boys C 200 freestyle (Elias Parsons, Rodrigo Boone, Brock Repsher, Kameron Myers)

9 seconds: 100 Backstroke (Logan Harris)

8 seconds: 50 Freesteyle (Bryce Decker)

7 seconds: Girls 200 Freestyle Relay (Sarah Gill, Brissa Jones, Emma Macy, Maria Wells); Boys A 200 Freestyle Relay (Heath Cross, Jake Orndorff, Wesley Abney, Agtesti)

6 seconds: Boys A 200 Medley Relay (Abney, Agtesti, Orndorff, Hendricks);  Boys 400 Freestyle Relay (Orndorff, Sean Metcalf, Hendricks, Abney)

5 seconds: Boys B 200 Medley Relay (Harris,Cross,Metcalf,Brock Repsher);  50 Feestyle (Elijah Hopkins); 100 freestyle (Clay Winchester); 100 Breaststroke (Argesti & Myers)

3 seconds: 50 Freestyle (Mikey Repsher); 100 Butterfly (Orndorff); 100 Freestyle (Macy &Brock Repsher)

2 seconds: 100 Freestyle (Wells)

Logan finished fourth overall, the top scoring team from outside Warren County.

Other team members are Zach Collins, Trenton Fears, Josh Hardin, Ethan Jenkins, Alexis Speck and Lupe Ramirez.

“We have only had two meets, but have gone against our regional champs for the past several years and still have done very well,” Coach Wharton says..” I am very proud of these athletes, in and out of the pool. They are overcoming many obstacles and still producing!!”
