Logan County Cougar Golf has started its tournament schedule. The boys team started with the Franklin Invitational at Franklin Country Club. The Cougars finished 12th of 17 teams with a total score of 352. Eli Forbes was low man with an 83, followed by senior Riley Ferguson with an 88. Jordan Baer shot 91, Jay Hardison 90, and 8th grader Braden Engler with an even 100. They have another scheduled tourney on Sept. 14 at Scott County in Georgetown Ky.
“These are the real tests to see how we progress,” Coach Kelley Jordan says. The boys finish their tourney schedule at Christian County Invitational right before Regional tourney.
The Lady Cougars also started their tournament run at the Franklin Invitational. Freshman Abby Grace Forbes shot a 97 and 7th grader Emma Fitzgerald shot a 132. Coach Jordan was pleased with how the girls have made strides from the first match to playing 18 holes tournaments.
“These are good tests before you get to region. To keep your composure for 18 holes and walk 18 holes is a big test for some of these ladies that have never done this in the past,” he says.
The girls played their next tourney at Marshall County Invitational and had more success. Forbes shot a 92, in which she played more consistently with 46 on the front and 46 on the back. Fitzgerald shot 140.
“We just need to shore up some little things like our putting and little better with our iron play and those scores with go down.” Coach Jordan said.
The girls also finish with Christian County Innovational before the Regional tourney.
