Cougar fall sports teams shine, winter teams getting ready

I'm a little behind on sharing Logan County athletics success, so I will try tp catch up.

Boys Soccer - Our soccer Cougars won the 13th District Championship. They faced off with top ten South Warren at regionals and lost. Parker Bray was named to the All-Region Team.

Girls Soccer - The Lady Cougars finished as 13th District Runner-up. They faced off with Greenwood in the opening round of regionals and lost. Kadyn Costello was named to the All-Region team.

Golf - Jordan Baer will be signing to play college golf. Jordan will be signing with Brescia University on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the CTC building 3:30 p.m. All are invited to attend Jordan's special day.

Cross Country - Travels to regional competition this Saturday at Ephram White Park.

Football - The Cougars are currently 7-1 and in a 3-way tie for first in the district. The Cougars will play host to Calloway County this Friday evening. Friday night will also be Senior Night. Please come out and congratulate the fine seniors that have represented LC so well over the years. 

Monday night the JV Cougars defeated South Warren 14-9 at home.

Middle School Basketball - LCMS District basketball teams have held try-outs and selected their teams. It's exciting to see these kids practicing together in anticipation of the upcoming season.

Girls team - Ten 8th graders and 8 7th grades made the roster.

Boys team - 7th and 8th grade teams have 12 on their rosters.

Volleyball - Our Lady Cougars traveled to Franklin-Simpson Tuesday and defended their many seasons of 13th District Championships.

Bass Fishing - competed in the first tournament of the season held at Kentucky Lake. The tournament was hosted by Marshall County. A total of 8 boats competed for the LC squad. A total of 59 teams fished and Darin Obenchain and Kolton Koomer finished in 4th.

Swimming - numbers continue to increase again this year. Several young men and women are in the process of trying out for the squad and looking forward to another great season.

Archery - is now under the direction of a new head coach, Jason Hayes. The talented squad is vying for a spot on the podium at state. Archers will begin practice on Nov. 5..

Good Luck to those competing in the fall season and best wishes for those firing up for the winter season. Congratulations to all coaches and players on a great start to our sports year. Thanks for so many great moments and look forward to many more.
