The Logan County Lady Cougars have spent this fall outscoring their opponents by lopsided margins, 38 points scored to 12 points allowed, so it comes as no surprise that Coach Barry McReynolds’ team scored eight goal in their 13th District semifinal Monday at Todd.
The Russellville Lady Panthers, on the other hand, are in just their third year as a team. They have been outscored 6-46 this fall.
As a result, the Lady Cougars reached yet another district finals and regional tournament berth with an 8-0 win.
Kadyn Costello is an offensive machine for the Lady Cougars. She scored five goals and added an assist in this win. Elizabeth Phelps scored two goals while Brianna Shelton added a goal and an assist. Linnea Pitts chipped in an assist.
The Lady Panthers managed only three shots on goal, and Lady Cougar goalkeeper Brady Alsup turned them all away.
Playing for Coach Eric Evans’ Lady Panthers were Jordan Cothern, Reese Croslin, Anastasia Doweln, Ashlyne Dowlen, Crissy Higgins, Malley Jayne, Aliyah Kennedy, Jasmine Kennedy, Jermani Morris, Madison Penrod, Chloe Shumate and Emily Stapleton.
The Lady Cougars now meet Franklin-Simpson, a 2-1 winner over Todd, at 5:30 Thursday in Elkton.
