Despite trailing from 7-10 points most of the game, the Russellville Lady Panthers kept threatening to take the lead Monday, but they never could. Down by three with 20 seconds left in the game, Coach Ryan Davenport’s team fell 45-39 to visiting Glasgow in the All A regional.
Glasgow led 24-7 at halftime, but Lady Panthers Alliyah Kennedy and Amiyah Collier each hit shots to cut the lead to 24-21. Almost as quickly Glasgow went up by double figures. It was 31-23 entering the final quarter.
Macaria Hines hit a 3-pointer, and Collier made a steal and a bucket to cut the lead to 35-30 with 3:50 remaining in the game. Jaylah Kees scored and Anastasia Dowlen turned a steal into points to cut the lead to four with 2:45.
The Lady Scotties went into a long delay and then Anzley Atwell scored to make the lead six. Collier scored quickly on the other end. Ashton Botts hit two fee throws with 37 seconds for the Lady Scotties, and five seconds later Collier hit a three to make it 42-39 with 32 seconds.
The Lady Panthers never scored again.
Collier finished with 17 points, 9 of them in the fourth quarter. Dowlen added 14 points. Russellville’s other statistics have not yet been made available.
Atwell led the Lady Scotties with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Mia Cassady had 9, all on 3-pointers.
Glasgow’s teams continue All A play at Metcalfe County Thursday.
