Both Russellville teams and both Franklin-Simpson squads will play on the same night in next week’s 13th District Tournaments at Logan County High School, but it won’t be the same night, at least not before the finals.
Mondays are reserved for the numbers one and four seeds, and Franklin is the top seed in both the girls and the boys brackets. In fact, both F-S teams are undefeated in district regular season play.
The Logan County Lady Cougars and Todd Central Rebels—both seeded second in their gender brackets—have also had excellent seasons.
Russellville’s teams are the three seeds in both divsions.
The Lady Cats (19-3 overall, 15-1 region, 7-0 district) play Todd Central (7-15, 1-8, 1-7) in Monday’s opener. Then the Wildcats (16-7, 13-3, 6-0) take on the Logan County Cougars (0-25, 0-14, 0-6).
On Tuesday, the second seeded Lady Cougars (20-11, 9-6, 4-3) will play the third-seeded Lady Panthers (8-13, 4-8, 2-6). The second-seeded Rebels of Todd Central (21-7, 9-2, 4-2) go against the Panthers (7-15, 4-9, 2-4).
The girls championship game will be played Thursday, Feb. 24, with the boys finals the next night.
Anticipated tip-off times are in the accompanying brackets.
