The Mad Mavericks Kentucky—an Under 11 baseball team—won their opening tournament of the season this spring in Tennessee.

Coach Travis Steward says his team “steam rolled through bracket play” in a Perfect Game March Madness tournament in Spring Hil, a city south of Nashville.

The Logan County-based team won the championship game with Keeton Wright pitching a perfect game in the Perfect Game tourney. The Mad Mavs put on what veteran coach Steward calls “a hitting clinic.”

In an earlier game, J.P. Faughn pitched a no-hitter in an 11-3 win over Hustle Factory South Orange. The losers’ runs scored in the fifth inning on two groundouts and an error. In the Mavs’ biggest inning, Hayden Clark and Cole Perkins each doubled and Callen Wright singled.

“Our off-season workouts and conditioning paid off, as we played four games, including three straight on Sunday, Steward notes, “an the boys looked like they could have played more. I can’t wait to see what is in store for the rest of the season.”

Besides the Wrights, Faughn, Clark and Perkins, team members are Tucker Stratton, Odin Wood, Liam Costello, Dylan Hampton, Max Cherry, Landon Buchanon, and Lyndon Edmonds.
