The Logan County Cougars not only picked up their first win of the season in their regular season finale, but they also did it in convincing style by romping over Foundation Christian Academy 66-27 in Bowling Green.

Fourteen players saw action for Coach Nathan Thompson’s Cougars. Thirteen of them scored and 13 got at least one rebound.

Chance Sweeney led the winners with 11 points while Kade Wall and Zane Batten scored 10 each, Jack Delaney 8, and Davin Yates and Colby Collins 6 each.

Wall and Sweeney each hit a trio of 3-pointers while Colby Collins and Delaney each getting two. Harper Butler added an 11th basket from long range. The Cougars attempted 35 treys, almost exactly the same number of two-pointers they attempted (10 of 37).

Batten was the leading rebounder with six while Harper Butler, Dakota Clinard and Evan Campbell added four each.

A little about Foundation Christian Academy basketball:

Coach David Muckle’s Falcons will play next year in the KHSAA postseason. A few weeks ago, it was determined that they will be a member of the strong 14th District along with Bowling Green, Warren Central, Greenwood and South Warren. There had been a possibility that Foundation Christian would come to Logan County 13th District, but instead Warren East is moving out of its home district and joining Glasgow, Barren County and Allen County-Scottsville in the 15th District. Meanwhile Monroe County is leaving the 15th to join the 16th District with Clinton, Cumberland, Metcalfe and Russell counties.

The Falcons had gotten their only win of the season a week earlier, 51-50 over North Hardin Classical, a team that had beaten them 43-25 to start the season.

The only Falcon to hit a 3-point shot, led his team in scoring with 12, almost half of the points.
