Logan County High School Tennis recently held what Coach Greta Winchester says was a successful camp that was sponsored by the United States Tennis Association on the LCHS courts, making it free for the around 30 players who participated, ranging in age from 5th-12th grades.
Tennis pro Mike Hobart did “a fantastic job” working with the advanced group on technical skills, such as hitting with spin, serving and “the meatball aspect of tennis.”
Winchester worked with the beginner group on basics and playing games.
“Overall, it was a great week of tennis, and I’m excited to see these players out on the courts,” Winchester says.
Tournaments were held at the end of camp with Taylor Corbin winning the advanced group. Lillian Harris placed second and Reed Parrish third. Beginners group champion was Landon Arnold with Paul Fernandez runner-up.
Winchester says another event will be held in the fall.
