Just a few hours after a disappointing performance in the Clash of the Cats, the Russellville Lady Panthers bounced back big with a 45-44 win over a good Butler County team Saturday.
Sophomore Lareesha Cawthorn put together a great performance, scoring 21 points and pulling down 16 rebounds. Her points came from 7 two-points goals and 7 of 11 free throws.
One of those free throws came with remaining on the clock. It was the winning point.
As is the case in many Lady Panther games, A’miyah Collier was the other double-figure scorer. She added 14 points, including going 8 of 11 at the line. The veteran senior was also second in rebounding with 7 boards.
Senior Jaylah Kees played a big role in the win. Still working to come back from a serious ankle injury, she hit 4 of 6 free throws and pulled down 4 rebounds.
Butler County came into the game with a 9-3 record and as a six-point favorite over the Lady Panthers.
