All-region selection LaReesha Cawthorn scored 17 points and grabbed 16 rebounds while leading the Russellville Lady Panthers to an important 50-40 win at Todd Central. Friday.

With a loss, RHS would have been the number four seed in the district tournament. Now tiebreakers will be in effect. If Logan County loses at Franklin-Simpson (and they were trailing by a big margin early while playing without star guard Gracie Borders), that would make F-S 6-0 and the other three teams all with 2-4 records and having split with each other in every match-up.

Coach Orlando Hayden’s RHS team led Todd throughout the final three quarters, primarily on defense. They were up 38-25 with 6:31 remaining in the game when Lady Rebels standout Alexis Taylor was called for her fifth foul when she charged into A’miyah Coller,.

Collier finished with 14 points, 9 rebounds, 5 fouls and 8 turnovers. Sisters Ja’eda Poindexter and Jaylah Kees combined to hit three 3-pointers. Brinley Mason scored all 7 of her points in the second half and corralled 5 rebounds. Center Jordin Morris didn’t score, but she had 8 rebounds, including two huge ones in the last minute.

Jamaia Burks scored 14, Taylor 9 and Abby Williams 8 for the Lady Rebels.
