Two big changes have been made in key roles in Logan County Schools lately and a third came today. First, LCHS graduate Dr. Dan Costellow was named superintendent. Then highly respected Athletic Director Greg Howard resigned to accept a similar position with Warren County Schools. Wednesday Costellow announced that he has appointed ultra-successful young Cougar football coach Todd Adler to fill Howard’s role while continuing as head football coach. Adler is also an LCHS alumnus.

This is Dr. Costellow’s announcement sent to media Tuesday afternoon:

Logan County Community,

I am pleased to announce Coach Todd Adler as the new Athletic Director for Logan County Schools! Coach Adler has served Logan County Athletics since being named Head Football Coach in 2016 and has been the district’s Assistant Athletic Director since 2021. He received his Master of Arts in Physical Education and is currently a P.E. teacher at Logan County High School.

Coach Adler has built a successful football program at Logan County High School while developing processes as Assistant AD to support student athletes at the Junior Pro, Middle School, and High School levels.

Our selection committee was in unanimous agreement that Coach Adler has a great vision for providing transparent leadership and support for all teams. After reviewing the structure of other district athletics programs, we found that it is not uncommon for a head coach to also serve as AD. Logan County High School Principal, Mr. Caycee Spears, has agreed to assist with situations that could be perceived as a conflict of interest.

Logan County Athletics is on a great trajectory and is highly regarded not only as a competitive force but also for building character and supporting academic achievement among its athletes. I look forward to continued growth and progress of all programs under Coach Adler’s leadership.

Additionally, I want to thank our selection committee who received input across all stakeholder groups, and the coaches, parents, and volunteers who work tirelessly to support the safety and success of our students.
