Turning nine hits and two walks into seven runs, the Logan County Cougars beat a good Warren East team 7-5 Saturday. The pitching of Tate McLean and TySean Thomeczek helped make it happen as the Cougars evened their record at 2-2.
Tripp Wadlington singled three times to lead the way, and Noah Mosley added two more. McLean doubled for the Cougars’ only extra base hit. Also singling were Drew McLellan, Eric Walker and Thomeczek.
Thomeczek, Walker, Lyndon Wilson, McLean and Hunter Holloway recorded RBIs. Drew McLellan, Walker, Wilson, Bryar Gaddis and Mason Hancock all scored runs. Mosley and Holloway drew the walks. Gaddis stole a base.
McLean was the starting and winning pitcher. Eights were wild; he gave up eight hits and struck out eight Raiders. Thomeczek pitched a scoreless inning for the save.
All hits they gave up were singles. Brenden Bratcher got two of them, and Kavien Hinton drove in two runs. Kieran Jones was the starting and losing pitcher on Coach Dalton Shoemake’s staff.
Hopkinsville 7, Logan County 2
Coach Ethan Meguiar handed freshman Landon Gregory the ball as the starting pitcher, and he made a good start. He gave up three runs—one unearned—in four and a third innings. Wetton and McLellan also pitched.
Walker doubled among his two hits. McLellan also had two hits. Mosley and Holloway scored the runs.
Greenwood 7, Cougars 3
McLellan doubled and singled among his two hits and had an RBI. McLellan, Wilson and Brady Hinton scored the runs. Wilson, Mosley and Hinton each singled.
Thomeczek was the starting and losing pitcher. Hinton pitched in relief.
