The future looked good in the present Tuesday when a pair of freshmen combined to pitch a deuce-filled stat sheet for the Logan County Cougars. TySean Thomeczek and Landon Gregory gave up two runs on two hits each and two walks in a 13-2 win at Allen County-Scottsville.

Catcher Tripp Wadlington homered, doubled, drove in five runs and scored another. Hunter Holloway doubled for the team’s only other extra-base hit.

Tate McLean and Noah Mosley each had two hits with freshman Mason Hancock, Drew McLellan and Brady Hinton each singling.

Mosley, Hancock and Eric Walker each scored two runs with Jonas Hayes, Bryar Gaddis, Hinton, Gregory, McLellan, McLean and Wadlington scoring one each. Walker walked twice and Mosley stole a base.

The Cougars ran their record to 3-2. Coach Brantly Bray’s Patriots are 1-5 on the season.

The Cougars will play their sixth straight road game Friday at Glasgow. But Coach Ethan Meguair’s team will host the Clas 2A sectional Saturday. They will face Hart County at 11 a.m. Franklin-Simpson will play the other semifinal at 1:30.
