Only two of the five runs Russellville pitcher Chloe Penrod allowed were earned, but those  five proved to be too many. The Lady Panthers fell 5-4 to Todd Central in district action Tuesday.

Five hits weren’t enough for the Lady Panthers, though. The best numbers for the day came from junior Ja’eda Poindexter, who singled, drove in two runs, stole three bases and scored twice.

The other RBI came on a single by Pendleton, who also stole a base, as Coach Ryan Davenport’s team went four for four on the bases. The other run was scored by Mariyah Merriweather, who singled.

Also getting hits were by Rylee Grayson and Addison Duncan. Aniyah Hampton worked the only walk for the Lady Panthers.

Penrod went the distance on the mound, giving up the five runs on seven hits and a walk. She struck out seven Lady Rebels.

Todd freshman pitcher Olivia Weikel had some miscues behind her, too, since three of Logan’s four runs were unearned. She gave up five hits and three walks while striking out six.

Senior Dakotah Gammon had a big game at the plate, homering and singling, driving in two runs and scoring. The only other extra base hit by the Lady Rebels was a double by Naomi Welborn.

Also getting a hit for the winners were Ella Hall, Isabelle Hightower, Rylann Griggs and Weikel. Penrod’s lone walk was by Weikel.

Joining Gammon in scoring were Hall, Griggs, Weikel and Gracee Miller.

In the Lady Panthers’ two most recent wins:

Lady Panthers 9, Hopkins County Central 5

The Lady Panthers banged out four extra-base hits. Penrod homered while Kaydence Lee, Merriweather and Aniyah Hampton each doubled. Grayson had two hits with Poindexter singling.

Getting RBIs were Lee, Penrod, Poindexter, KK Davenport and Alexis Triplett. Penrod walked twice and Triplett once. Grayson and Davenport each stole a base.

In addition to being the offensive leader, Grayson earned the win by pitching a scoreless inning in relief of Penrod, who struck out six Storm batters.

Lady Panthers 9, Monroe County 7

Despite making enough errors that six of the Lady Falcons’ seven runs were unearned, Coach Ryan Davenport’s team got the win. Penrod was the starting and winning pitcher. She gave up one earned run in six and a third innings. Grayson got the last two outs.

Eighth graders got five of the seven hits. Triplett had two hits, stole a base and drove in a run. Legna Taylor totaled a hit and three RBIs, scored two runs and two stolen bases. Merriweather and Anyiah Hampton each singled and scored twice each.

Poindexter got the only extra-base hit with a double. She also walked, drove in two runs, and scored a run.  Also getting a hit were Merriweather and Grayson.

KK Davenport and Anyiah Hampton each got RBIs. Seventh grader Kha’Mirah Hampton and Penrod each walked twice. Taylor and Kha’Mirah Hampton were each hit by a pitch.
