Getting a first and second in jumping events, the Russellville Panthers picked up five thirds in running events on the way to a third-place finish among 13
teams in the Class 1A regional track meet hosted by Heath at Marshall County High School May 12.
Sophomore Josh Hampton won the high jump and senior Quintin Calloway placed second in the triple jump for Coach Dennis Sydnor's team. Also in jumping
events, RHS got a fourth from Antonio Rose and a fifth from Calloway in the long jump.
Another sophomore, Demarcus Hampton, was part of four thirds. He did it individually in the 100 and 200 and in the 4X100 and 4X200 relays along with
Dominique Harris, Josh Hampton and Zach Hines.
Harris finished fourth in the 200 while Hines and Hampton joined Calloway and Rose in finishing third in the 4X400.
Fort Campbell and Murray finished above the Panthers as a team with Paducah St. Mary's fourth and Heath fifth.
Eighth grader Diamond Hines, who won the state 100 meter championship last year, finished second in that event in this year's region, but she won the 200
and ran on a fourth place and a sixth place relay team. Joining her on both those relay teams were Jolanda Wells, Passion Townsend and Devonna Sydnor, who
also ran fifth in the 100.
The Lady Panthers are coached by Matt Tipton, who is in his 39th year in that role.
