The younger all-star team representing Logan County Babe Ruth dropped all three of its games in postseason play. The opening loss was especially painful.
Logan came ever so close, but lost 17-16 to runner-up Franklin-Simpson.
Logan got eight hits, with Connor McColpin and Garrett Strickler each doubling and singling, Kenton Howard getting a pair of hits, and Jacob Decker and Dalton Nash adding a single each. Howard
drove in four runs, Jack Wright three, Strickler and McCoplin two each, and Jerrod England, D.J. Price and Decker one
each. Strickler scored four runs, Nash three, Ashton Ross and Price two each, and Mason Parker, Wright, Howard, McColpin
and England one each.
Ross was effective on the mound in four innings of relief of Howard. Ross gave up four runs on four each of hits and walks while striking out two.
The next game was lopsided with champion Warren County beating Logan 15-2. Logan managed only three hits, singles by Evan Humphries,
Parker and Nash. Decker and Nash got an RBI each. Matt Guinn and Wright scored a run apiece.
Howard was the starting pitcher again, going two innings. Guinn worked the next three innings. Ross pitched a scoreless final inning, giving up and hit and
no walks while striking out two.
The final game was also one-sided with Franklin winning 14-1. Ross, who had pitched effectively in relief the first two games, didn't have as much success
as a starter. Guinn pitched the final inning. He didn't allow a hit but walked three batters, leading to a pair of runs.
For Logan, Wright had two hits and an RBI. Ross singled and scored the lone run.
