Logan County students younger than high school age placed in the top five of events 14 times in a track meet at Warren East Thursday.

“This is the largest group of elementary/middle school runners that we’ve had in a long time. I am so proud of everything I saw last night, running form was much improved, effort was flawless, they all used blocks, and the enthusiasm they showed gave me a great deal of pride!” says Coach Greg Howard. “For a first meet ever for these guys was outstanding. Our girls team is loaded with talent and I’m excited about this year and beyond. Our boys were just as impressive.

“To be scoring as well against veteran competition is impressive. These kids are going to be great and hopefully we can attract more next year to help with numbers. I can put last night’s meet into one word, “WOW.”

Meredith Johnson had an impressive meet, recording a first, a second and a fifth individually and she ran on a second place relay team along with the Vanzant sisters (Paige and Peyton) and Jessie Hankins. Paige finished second and Peyton fifth to Johnson in the 400. Among the boys, Gage Cousineau won the 1600, Jaylin Munday finished third individually and joined Austin Gouy, Alex Brown, Harrison Wilson with a relay third place finish. Brown had a fourth and a fifth, and Guoy a fourth. Cade Knight finished second, fifth and seventh in field events.
