Regional v-ball champ Logan to celebrate 15 years of excellence

Another season begins soon for the Logan County volleyball team, which will attempt to defend its 2013 regional championship. The Lady Cougars reached the state quarterfinals for the second time. They’ve been in the regional finals 9 of the last 11 seasons.

Kelly Steenbergen, mom of standout junior hitter Chanler Steenbergen, has issued the following invitation.”

“It's that time of year again for some exciting Lady Cougar Volleyball action. On Thursday, Aug. 21, please come out to support your Logan County Lady Cougar Volleyball team as we celebrate our 15th year. We invite all former coaches, players, and referees to come celebrate with us and allow us to honor you with refreshments. We will recognize all alumni in attendance immediately following the JV game. 

“Please join in our excitement as we begin another successful season....making another run at State. 

“All matches will be held in the Auxiliary Gym and begin at 5:30

The season kicks off Tuesday, Aug. 19, with district visitors Franklin Simpson coming to town.”

Head Coach Steven Lyne and top assistant Rob Imlay have been on the coaching staff ever since the program began 15 years ago, first serving as assistants to Coach Tina Baker Lynch, who is now developing young players for the high school team as the Adairville Middle School coach. Buddy Wright, who was a key assistant in the early years, is now the coach of the middle school champion Olmstead squad. Lyne and Imlay were the leading proponents of establishing the middle school program. Current assistants James Imlay and Tim Hopkins played key voluntary roles in the high school program before becoming official coaches.
