The balanced attack of the Logan County Lady Cougars was made more apparent Friday when the announcement was made of the 15 girls who have been voted to the three regular season All-Region teams in the Fourth Region.
No Logan player was named, even though the Lady Cougars are tied for the fifth best record in the region with 18 wins and even though a case can be made for all-star status for all five starters—post player Brooke Barnes, forward Kapreshia Powell, and guards Maegann Hardison, Taleia Mason and Torrie Pollard. And top reserve Rachel Barnett may have been playing the best of all of them in the late going.
Meanwhile three teams with losing records had a player honored.
Also left out was sophomore star Loreal Cheaney of Russellville, who has been among the top scorers in the region all season.
Allen County-Scottsville coach Brad Bonds, who announced the results, said, “I have calculated, re-calculated and once more checked the totals as there were many deserving players and this process just proves that our 4th region has many talented young ladies.”
