Because of technology, modern day baseball statistics are infinitely more extensive and complicated than they were for decades. Batting average, earned run average, fielding percentage, home runs, RBIs and wins and losses have been joined by oddly eccentric marks like WHIP, OPS, 2-Outs RBIs, 1-2-3 Outs Innings, and First Pitch Strikes Percentage.

Assistant Coach Adam Decker maintains those statistics for the Logan County Cougars and has shared them with The LoJo.

The most important statistic, of course, is that Coach Ethan Meguiar’s team has a 23-9 record going into tonight’s home 13th District game with Russellville. Coach Blake Crabtree’s Panthers have shown improvement lately and go into the postseason with a 7-22 mark. RHS does not report statistics from games.

The Cougars show depth in their statistics. Fifteen different players either lead or share the lead in a statistical category.

Senior Caleb Bruner leads the way with 17 first places. Classmate Matt Harper is second with 10. Jordan Hendrixh as four firsts, Ethan Smock three, and Hunter Britt, Daniel Beaty, Jackson Campbell and Tucker Baldwin two each. Also recording a first were Michael Riley, Austin Rayno, Bradley Taylor, Luke Woodall, Hunter Crafton, Nick Wooden and Kaleb Justice.
