Bowling Green Ballpark is set to welcome its 1.5 millionth all-time fan, when the Hot Rods return to the Commonwealth for a three-game series against the Burlington Bees (Angels) tonight through Thursday, Aug. 13.
Opened on April 17, 2009 for the franchise’s inaugural season in Kentucky, Bowling Green Ballpark has seen 1,495,575 total fans (3,301 average attendance over 453 games) click through the turnstiles to set the stage for what should be a momentous occasion.
“It’s going to be a huge honor to welcome the 1.5 millionth fan to Bowling Green Ballpark,” said Hot Rods general manager/COO Adam Nuse. “We make Hot Rods baseball, and Bowling Green Ballpark, the place to be in southcentral Kentucky during the season, and we are always enjoy the opportunity to give back to our fans.”
Whoever garners the distinct honor of being the 1.5 millionth Hot Rod fan, that lucky individual will receive their own custom Hot Rods’ jersey with the number “1.5” on the back. In addition, that person will get to throw out the first pitch before that night’s game when the magic number is reached, will receive an autographed team ball from the 2015 squad as part of a Hot Rods’ prize pack and will get a luxury box suite for the Sept. 3 game against Lake County for them and 18 friends and family members.
While a pair of teams around Minor League Baseball – the Pensacola Blue Wahoos and Birmingham Barons, both of which participate in Double-A – have already welcomed their one millionth fan this season, the Hot Rods are the first team to recognize the 1.5 millionth fan in 2015.
