Neither team could score in the final 23 minutes of the match Saturday as visiting Muhlenberg County and Logan County played to a 2-2 tie in boys soccer.

Cougar Sedale Shannon scored the first goal of the game on an assist from Logan Houchens with 9:18 remaining in the first half.

Muhlenberg tied the score at halftime on a goal with 3:42 remaining in the half. Then the visitors took the lead on a goal with 28:45 remaining.

Five minutes later, Logan’s Erik Williams tied it at 2-2.

Muhlenberg County made a serious threat, but Cougar Bryson Peters blocked a free kick inside the 18-yard-line, deflecting it out of bounds.

Logan goalkeeper Kenny Cornist played well in the intense game, keeping nine shots on goal from going in.

Coach Eric Evans’ Cougars had run their record to 2-0 on Thursday, beating Hopkins County Central 2-1.

Shannon scored the first goal for LCHS in the first half. Evan Hughes scored the winning goal in the second half.
