On Thursday, Hot Rods infielder Lucius Fox was selected to represent the World team in the 2017 Futures Game.

In his first season with the Rays organization, Fox has made a tremendous first impression after being dealt by the Giants at the trade deadline last year in a package for former Hot Rods pitcher Matt Moore.

As the Rays #14 prospect per MLB Pipeline entering the season, Fox is hitting a career-best .285 and ranks third in the Midwest League with 22 stolen bases. He also ranks second on the team with 36 runs scored and sports an impressive .360 on-base percentage while hitting primarily out of the leadoff spot as the catalyst of the Hot Rods lineup.

Since May 1, the 19-year-old is hitting .300 (55-for-183) while cranking out the first two homers of the season, doubling his career total. He also has 10 stolen bases in 21 games during the month of June.

The Bahamas native is one of two players with Hot Rods ties in the 2017 Futures Game. Pitcher and 2015 Hot Rods standout Brent Honeywell was selected to play for the US team.

Fox is the also third Hot Rods player to earn the honor while playing his games in Southcentral Kentucky. Pitcher Felipe Rivero played for the World team back in 2012 while fellow hurler Taylor Guerrieri was named to the US team in 2013 but did not play due to injury.

On July 9, Fox will head down to South Florida to play in the SirusXM All-Star Futures Game at Marlins Park. Former All-Star and 2010 World Series MVP Edgar Renteria will serve as the manager for Fox and the rest of the World team.

Fox and the Hot Rods are currently in the middle of an eight-game roadtrip. They will return to the Commonwealth on July 4 to start a series against the Dayton Dragons.
