The beginning of March was a very exciting time at Chandler’s School. We had the return of our students four days a week, a book fair hosted by our librarian Mrs. Jackie McCorkle and the celebration of Dr. Suess’ Birthday with Read Across America. The return of students was much anticipated as teachers and staff were happy to greet each student in person and have a full class of smiling faces.

A little fun was had when students enjoyed dress-up days, such as read a book about your favorite athlete (wear your favorite team shirt) and read your favorite book (wear your favorite color). Both in-person and virtual students who participated in dress-up days were awarded prizes.

Also in honor of Read Across America Week, students in grades K-8 participated in a bookmark decorating contest. Students designed and created bookmarks representing the theme “Read Across America” - the top 3 students in each grade level won a book or poster from the book fair.

Students were able to enjoy books read to them virtually by various people from the school and community including Taylor Shutt from Logan County Public Library, Chris Cartas from the Bowling Green Fire Department, Judge Joe Hendricks from the Todd and Logan County Circuit Court Judge, Officer Eric Evans from the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, and the Logan County Rotary Club. Not to mention several staff members joined in on the fun and shared a favorite book with students. To finish up the week students had an additional treat of ice cream in celebration of Dr. Seuss’ Birthday.
