Christmas events featuring parades, pageantry and music will provide ample opportunities for people from Logan and Beyond to get out, come together, and celebrate the season this weekend. As was true last weekend, Lewisburg and Auburn will play big roles.

Lewisburg

A full day of Christmas fun and festivities will fill North Logan on Saturday.

A craft show and sale will be sponsored by the Lewisburg Lions Club from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lewisburg Fire Department. Santa Claus is expected to visit with children at the fire department after the parade.

The Rudolph Run will feature kids ages 3-12. The starting line will be on Second Street, beginning at 3 p.m. All runners will receive a participation prize, and small prizes will be awarded in age groups.

Lineup for the 4 p.m. parade will be held from 2-3:45 p.m. at the old Red Kap building. The theme is “Make a Joyful Noise—Songs of the Season.” Prizes will be awarded in the categories of Antique Car or Tractor, School Entry and Non-Profit. The Grand Prize winner overall will receive $100. WRUS’ Myla Porter will be on the public address system.

The parade marshal is Linda Cook. She and her late husband Bob Cook saved one of Lewisburg’s leading industries, the Nelson Company, from being closed several decades ago, and they also opened a Western Auto store in Lewisburg. She still volunteers for many good causes in the area.

Lewisburg Lions Club is sponsoring a decorating contest for homes that were pre-registered. Judging was conducted Friday evening. Prizes for the top three places will be $100, $50 and $25, respectively. Those winners will be announced during festivities downtown.

Sunday, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Lewisburg, Christian music will fill the air as the Lewisburg Community Choir will present “Mary Did You Know? A Ready to Sing Christmas.” It will begin at 7 p.m. A love offering will be taken to support the Lewisburg Benevolence Fund.
