At its January meeting, the Russellville Board of Education honored the Russellville High School Music Department for its successes this year. Including a berth in the state marching band finals in the fall. Honors continue for band members.
Now the RHS Panther Band and Chorus plan to serve the public food and music in return for some funding for their programs.
On Friday, March 24, Notes Over Noodles returns with a pasta dinner, musical showcase and live auction. Doors will open at 5:45 p.m. with food and festivities to begin at 6:30.
Brent Summers of Summers & Son Funeral Home will be the special guest emcee and auctioneer.
Tickets are $10. All proceeds from the tickets and the auction will go to the RHS Panther Band Boosters.
At the school board meeting, Cardwell recognized senior band member Candace Baker for being named Kentucky Music Education Association All-State for the second straight year, senior Matthew Parrish for being named to the KMEA All-State Choir, and junior Caleb Ragland for being a national Beta qualifier for his musical performance.
Brian Elliott is the RHS Choir Director.
Recently high performing band members were chosen for the 2023 Murray State University Quad-State Band. They are Baker, Graciann Beard, Ella Kate Parrish, PQ Perez, Treyvonn Stevenson, Patrick Thomason and Aliza Wilson.
“Super proud of these students, who have also attended KMEA All-District Band, KMEA All-State Band, WKU Honors Band, and consistently show out for our Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Pep Band!” Cardwell says.
