The seventh annual Cpl. Josh Moore Fallen Heroes Ride is scheduled for this Saturday. The event honors the memory of the 2006 graduate of Logan County High School who was felled by an explosive device in Iraq and raises funds for scholarships awarded in his name.

Last year, 156 motorbikes and 47 cars and trucks were involved in the processional, which is scheduled to run 85 miles on June 29. A minimum donation of $10 per vehicle is all that is required, but there will be opportunities to contribute more as poker hands, baskets, auctions and concessions are made available.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. at American Legion Post 29 in Russellville. The ride itself starts at 9:30. The route heads out U.S. 68/80 to Elkton. From there it’s KY 181 to Greenville, 176 to Drakesboro, U.S. 431 through Lewisburg, and KY 3519 (the old Lewisburg Road and now Cpl. Josh Moore Memorial Highway) past his childhood home. The path returns to the Legion home where more events will take place, including music by Clay Bilyeu. Door prizes, breakfast and lunch are part of the plans. A break is scheduled at Muhlenberg County High School’s East campus.

Josh, who played baseball for LCHS, is the son of Jeff and Carolyn Moore.
