Republican women to honor patriotic essayists

The LCRWC (Logan County Republican Women's Club will have its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 16, at 5:30 p.m. at GOP Headquarters on the Carrico Square in Russellville.

This is the night the “What America Means to Me” essay winners will be coming to read their winning essays to the audience.

First place winner Jaclyn Batchelor of Olmstead School will receive $50, a medal and a certificate. Her teacher was Justin Adams. Second place winner Gracie Wharton, who was fifth grade student at Chandler’s School, will receive $40, a medal and a certificate. Her teacher was Tina Campbell. Two third place winners, who will be awarded $30 each plus medals and certificates, (both fifth graders at the time of the writing, are Jenna Robertson and Lauren Pitts, both of Adairville. Their teachers were Kerry Holloman and Heather Mowles.There will be a 1st place winner, 2nd place winner, and two tied for third place winners with three honorable mention winners. First place winner will be awarded $50. Second place will be awarded $40. The two third place winners will be awarded $30 each. The honorable mention winners will be awarded $10 each.

Honorable mention winners, who will receive $10 each plus medals and certificates, are Alex Walpole, 5th grader in Mrs. Campbell's class at Chandler's School; Hayley Hallman, 5th grade at Adaiirville in Ms. Mowles’ class; and Haley Snyder 7th grader Olmstead School in Mr. Adams’ class last year.

Regular and associate members are urged to attend to support these young people. They are also encouraged to call Annie Statton at 725-9100 to see what they should bring in the way of food or drink. Of course, the general public is always invited. Club members are hoping that the students' teachers, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and anyone else they wish to invite will come hear them read these inspiring essays.
