Kwesi Neblett has been part of the Logan County's annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Walk Celebration and is president of the sponsoring Community Projects Inc., but his critical work today in California Wildfire 2025 comes during Wednesday morning’s walk and celebration.
Kwesi grew up immersed in the legacy of civil rights and service, participating in the MLK Unity Walk every year until relocating to California. His parents, Dr. Charles and Marvinia Neblett, were his first mentors, instilling in him the values of leadership, resilience, and community service. Kwesi also grew up close to the families of civil rights icons Harry Belafonte, Julian Bond, and John Lewis, calling them “uncles” who shaped his commitment to justice and service.
Currently, Kwesi serves in the California National Guard, where he provides security and support during wildfire responses and other crises in Los Angeles. As a Scout Recon team member, he works under extreme conditions to protect neighborhoods, safeguard high-value assets, and ensure public safety, collaborating with agencies like Cal Fire, FEMA, and law enforcement.
His resume reflects a proven track record of crisis management, interagency collaboration, and leadership during some of the most challenging circumstances, including the historic 2025 California wildfires.
