Last year, Lewisburg Assistant Principal Kelly Lewis and The Principal Task Force ran a book drive to benefit all Logan County Preschools. The next step to celebrating literacy and the love of books in our community was installing a Little Free Library at Lewisburg School. Mrs. Marty White, second grade teacher, immediately called Carpentry instructor Cliff Paddock at Logan County Career and Technology Center, and the idea quickly turned into reality.

Mr. Paddock and his Site and Layout class designed the structure, built it, painted it, and installed it at the school on Feb. 27. Lewisburg School’s administrators, Principal Grant Warren and Mrs. Lewis, expressed appreciation for their collaboration and dedication to this project. The final product is outstanding and they are so grateful to add it to their campus.

LCCTC students who were involved in the planning, construction and erection of the library are designer Hunter Lawson, Eli Poore, Kaleb Gibson, Dale Mann, Liam Turner, Logan Rice, Maddox Moore, David Lambert, Trevor Bromm, Kaiden Story and Stephen Phelps.

The second graders collected books and placed stickers inside the books to leave a lasting legacy. Mrs. White says, “Our second graders are so excited to share their love of books with the community.”

Students have already stocked the library full of picture books and chapter books! Students were so excited to be a part of this project.

Staff members voted on a name for the Little Library and they are so excited to present The Ranger Reading Station! This new addition is available for anyone to come by and pick a book to enjoy. Community members and families may also donate books for The Ranger Reading Station simply by placing them in the Little Library, which is located next to the Blessing Box.

Lewisburg School will be hosting a Math and Stem Family Night on March 12, 4:30-6:30. To officially open the Ranger Reading Station, a ribbon cutting will take place at 4:20 before the family event.
