Logan County Adult Education has been selected by Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Bowling Green as a partner for a bookfair on Friday, Nov. 29.  Barnes & Noble receives many requests each year, to work as a team to raise funds for worthy non-profits.

Logan County Adult Education has been a vital part of the community for 26 years. Barnes and Noble wants to be sure this high achieving program continues.

Funds are used to pay for GED scholarships. The cost of GED exams will double, to $120 in January.   For many students this price becomes a barrier toward achieving their academic goals.

“We are honored to have been selected again by Barnes& Noble,” stated Pam Morgan, LCAE assistant director. “Every educator’s budget has been reduced.  But the demand for continuing adult education continues to grow.  This fundraising bookfair is such a great way to help meet the needs of the community.”

On, Friday, Nov. 29, if you make any purchases at the Bowling Green Barnes & Noble store and mention the Logan County Adult Education, a portion of the sale will be donated to the program.

If you cannot make it to the Bowling Green store that day, “Black Friday”,  and still want to take part, you can also make purchases online through the Barnes & Noble website.

Just go to bn.com/bookfairs and use the Bookfair ID 11225901 at checkout and a portion of the online sales will also be donated to LCAE. The online code can be used from Nov. 29 through Dec. 4.

Last year 72 individuals earned their GED, and over a thousand people were served during the 2012-2013 fiscal year. In addition to GED preparatory classes, LCAE offers college Prep/review classes, English Language Learner classes, assistance with college enrollment and financial aid applications.

“We try to help all adults who seek to continue their education.  It is important to us and it helps everyone in the community,” proclaimed Morgan.
