Concerned Citizens of Russellville-Logan County has a number of activities planned in May, which can benefit those in need and give the public an opportunity to assist in funding those projects.

The mission of Concerned Citizens is to help feed the needy, educate our youth, and help the community in a Godly manner.

Two events are planned this Friday, May 2. First is offering a grilled pork chop meal in front of the Logan County Chamber of Commerce on Carrico Park Square from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A meal of pork chops, chips, cookies and a drink will cost $6. Donations will also be accepted.

Community leaders are helping with the grilling. Funds will be used on the After School Tutorial program, the Summer Program and the Food Bank.

Then Friday beginning at 7 p.m., Praise Night will be held at the KP Hall, 428 East Fifth Street, at Russellville. Special guests will be Rev. Eddie Brown and St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at Guthrie. This is the beginning of Concerned Citizens’ Friday Night Praise series. Fish chicken will be available for purchase.

The following Saturday, the Seniors Making a Difference in the Community group affiliated Concerned Citizens will offer a free lunch to the community from noon to2 p.m. at the KP Hall. The menu will include chicken with dressing, ham, green beans, potato salad, macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes, apples, rolls and dessert.

Concerned Citizens will hold an Adult/Youth Teen Fashion Show on Saturday, May 31 at the KP Hall, beginning at 7 p.m. Sarah Tuck and Friends of Franklin will lend a helping hand to the event, and seveal people from Franklin and surrounding counties will participate.

Tickets will be $10. Fish or chicken sandwiches will be provided. Modern Woodmen of America will match up to $1,250 in funds raised.

Concerned Citizens serves over 400 families in the community monthly through its food bank. “We are able to do this through the generosity of some of our local churches, Feed the Children in Oklahoma City, Feeding America of Elizabethtown, GT Freight of Auburn, monthly donations, and God’s favor,” says Executive Director Dorris Vick.
