Lots of people are spreading the word about the radiothon scheduled Friday to raise funds for the annual community aid to families in need started and nurtured by the late Bro. Joe Carrico. Here’s what some of them have to say:

Melanie Flora Story says, “The annual Bro. Joe's Family Christmas Radiothon will be held on Friday, Nov. 14, from 1-5 p.m. on WRUS 610 AM radio station. The call-in number for the pledges is (270) 542-TOYS (8697). If you know someone that has been touched by this outreach recently or in the years past, that would like to share their story, they can call the radio station during the Radiothon hours or visit the station that day to share their blessings. They may also contact Agape Service Foundation at (270) 726-7109 if they would like to pre-record.

Jennifer Truszcienski Cardwell says, “For 60 years Bro. Joe Carrico and his band of merry helpers worked tirelessly to ensure every child in our community had a toy at Christmas. Last year the organization formerly Toys for Tots of Logan County changed its name to reflect the legacy he left behind. On Friday afternoon we will host our annual Radiothon for this tremendous organization. From 1-5, we will be on the air with folks who benefited from the program and have been blessed to serve within it. During that time, please call 270-542-TOYS to make a pledge or donation.

WRUS General Manager Chris McGinnis gives more details:

“For nearly six decades Bro. Joe Carrico coordinated the efforts to ensure every child in Logan County had a toy at Christmas. This organization, formerly Toys for Tots Logan County, has changed its name to reflect his love and commitment to our community. On Friday, Nov. 14, from 1-5, WRUS will host our annual radiothon in support of these efforts. All proceeds benefit the efforts of Bro. Joe's Family Christmas.

“We will be on the air that afternoon with wonderful guest hosts including Don Neagle, Mack Mallory, Tim Harris, Scooter Davis & Myla Thomas. plus, Mike Humble & Janice Humble, and many others involved in this terrific community outreach. They'll be joined by folks that have been helped directly by Bro. Joe and this organization.

“We ask that you, your family, group, business or organization determine what amount you can afford to give to make sure every child in our community has a toy to open at Christmas! Our friends at Logan Telephone Cooperative, Inc. have made it possible to accept your pledges and donations over the phone. Just call 270-542-TOYS...that's 270-542-8697! You can also drop donations off at WRUS, First Southern National Bank locations & Crabtree Furniture!

“Please tune in Friday afternoon, and give whatever amount you can afford to continue the legacy of Bro. Joe's Family Christmas! On Friday afternoon, call 270-542-TOYS!”
