Community Education Director Penni Nugent has announced two classes that are being offered this spring. Details follow:

“Cooking Around the World”

Are you interested in learning how to cook food from “around the world”? Have we got a program for you! Community Education Director, Penni Nugent, and Logan County SNAP Ed Assistant, Paige Alexander, are partnering together to offer a Tuition-Free cooking class. At each class, you will have the opportunity to cook and sample food from different cultures, receive nutrition information and Free incentives.  The fee will be $20.00 for all four nights, just to cover the cost of the food!  The cooking classes will be held at the Logan County Cooperative Extension Office, 255 John Paul Rd., Russellville, KY.  If you would like to enroll in these classes, please contact: Penni Nugent at  270-726-8405, ext. 4331, or penni.nugent@russellville.kyschools.us on or before Friday, April 17.

“Joining Schools and Community”

Basic Spanish for Beginners

Learn to speak the Spanish language in six weeks!  This two-classes per week, six-week program will teach you the basics of conversational Spanish.  Sessions will begin Tuesday, April 14, and end Thursday, May 19.  Classes will be held at Russellville High School, in Room 2, from 4pm—5pm.  The instructor is Griselda Vargas, the Bilingual Tutor with Russellville Board of Education.  The cost will be $60.00 for 6 weeks!!  Sessions will include the sounds of Spanish, the alphabet, words you should know, numbers, telling time in Spanish, common phrases, key expressions and important vocabulary words.
