SKYCTC still has scholarships available

Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College has announced that there is still time to apply for scholarships to help pay for your education. Scholarships are awarded to students who meet specific criteria. They can be based on need, program or academic achievements.

Best of all: Scholarships do not need to be paid back! Following is a list of scholarships still available for this fall:

Fulfilling the Promise Scholarship   
Deadline July 29, 2015
This scholarship is available to a first-time SKYCTC student in the amount of $750 per academic year.  Student must have a cumulative high school or college GPA of 2.5 and completed the SKYCTC admission process and FASFA.  Student must be enrolled full-time and demonstrate financial need.

Staff Council: Alice Benham Honorary Scholarship

In recognition of Dean Alice Benham’s dedication and service to Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College, the Arts & Humanities Department established the Alice Benham Honorary Scholarship Award for a deserving student. A scholarship award in the amount of $250 is available for the 2015-16 academic year. Applicants can be an incoming or continuing student with preference given to applicants having a 3.0 or above GPA (high school or college) and/or the highest test scores (e.g., ACT, COMPASS). Part-time students are also eligible for the scholarship.

Altrusa - Olive Gillespie Scholarship 
Deadline July 29, 2015

This scholarship was established in 2005 by the Altrusa Club.  Preference for this scholarship is for a student who has financial need and resides in Warren County. Also, student must be over the age of 30, widowed, or divorced and have children under the age of 18.  Student must be enrolled full time and complete a FAFSA for the academic year.  One award of $1,000 will be given.

Dr. Lewis and Selma Dickinson Practical Nursing Scholarship  
Deadline July 29, 2015
This scholarship, established in 2007 by the children of Glasgow Native, Dr. Lewis Dickinson, is designed to assist students from Glasgow/Barren County to attend the Practical Nursing program at the Glasgow Campus.  A $500 scholarship will be awarded based on academic achievement and financial need. 

Tonya Jones Minton Memorial Scholarship  
Deadline July 29, 2015
This scholarship, established by Dr. Bharat Mody, is open to any student from Allen, Barren, Metcalfe or Monroe Counties. First preference is given to Surgical Technology students, if none available will go to Allied Health/Nursing programs. Must be full time with 12 credit hours accumulated and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Scholarship awards vary from $500 - $1000.

Jerry E. Baker Scholarship  
Deadline July 29, 2015
This scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the Welding Technology program. Student must be enrolled at least part-time and have completed 12 semester hours.   Students are required to complete the FAFSA.  The recipient must reapply each year and the $1,000 award will be contingent on the student maintaining a GPA of 2.5

Lake Cumberland Home Health- Betty Maybrier Memorial Scholarship  
Deadline July 29, 2015
This scholarship in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to a student enrolled in the Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College/Glasgow Campus Practical Nursing program and have demonstrated the potential for achieving academic excellence.

Laura Goad Turner Scholarship   
Deadline July 29, 2015
The Laura Goad Turner Charitable Foundation provides scholarship funds for Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College students from Allen County, Ky., to pursue a higher education. Any Allen County resident enrolled at least part-time in a program which contributes to workforce development in high-need areas is eligible to apply. Several scholarships in varying amounts are awarded each year.

Michael T. Bardin Scholarship  
Deadline July 29, 2015
The Michael T. Bardin Scholarship was established by Mr. Bardin to recognize students of Kentucky with strength of character, academic achievement and financial need.  Mr. Bardin worked for 27 years at Bowling Green Area Vocational School where he served as principal for 13 years.  His belief in education and generosity will create a lasting legacy affecting the lives of SKYCTC students, families and our communities.  To be eligible, students must be a U.S. Citizen and KY resident who have completed 12 semester credits at SKYCTC.  Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Students are required to submit two character references.  Award amounts vary per academic year and application merit. 

 

Robert and Mary Tincher HVAC Scholarship         
Deadline July 29, 2015
The Robert and Mary L. Tincher HVAC Scholarship is available to first-year, core HVAC students.  The student(s) must be a graduate of Bowling Green High School or Warren County Public Schools within two years prior to scholarship award.  Selection is based on financial need.  The recipient(s) will receive $2,500 for one term.  Recipient must reapply each semester in order to be considered for scholarship.  This scholarship is renewable only if the student maintains a 2.0 grade average in the HVAC program.
