It’s a great time to be a Tiger! From individual accomplishments to group endeavors, students at Auburn Elementary School have worked hard in the last quarter. We would like to formally recognize each of the following students and staff members at Auburn School for their continuing efforts towards excellence!

Mastered 100 Kindergarten Sight Words in Mrs. Staci Hughes’ kindergarten: Alexis Logan, Lukas Adler, Aslyn Pawley, Layne Jump, Grayson Crocker, Landon Bilyeu

Luke Arnold and Landon Arnold, 3^rd and 1^st graders at Auburn, of Boy Scout Pack 303, and 2^nd grader Mitchel Bego of Pack 505 participated in the district Pinewood Derby, Saturday, March 12, in Bowling Green after placing in the top three at the local level. Mitchel placed in the top six at the regional competition.

2^nd grader Anistyn Cox and 4^th grader Avery Beason completed the entire reading program Lexia Core 5. The highest level of Lexia, level 18, demonstrates 5^th grade reading skills.

After winning the district spelling bee, Auburn 6^th grader Jacob Jackson advanced to State competition. Out of 64 students in the competition, Jacob placed 11^th in the entire state!

7^th graders Henry Ham and Colton Watkins recently took the ACT as part of the Duke University Talent Identification Program. Both boys scored at or above benchmark scores for high school level students as 7^th graders! We look forward to seeing the amazing things they will do in the future.

 6^th grader Gwen Newell was honored at the 2016 Environmental & Agricultural Awards Banquet, for writing the winning essay for the District Conservation contest. 5^th grader Madison McCall was the runner-up for the District Art contest.

Auburn’s Middle School Band has racked up the accolades recently, both in individual competition and ensembles. Eight students were selected to participate in WKU Middle School Honors Band Clinic on Monday, Feb. 29: Christian Hines, Penelope Coles, Aaliyah Townsend, Ashlynn Canler, Will Clark, Lindsey Brinkley, Brianna Brooks, and Colton Watkins

Auburn Middle School Band students also performed at the KMEA Regional Solo and Ensemble Festival on Saturday, March 5. Congratulations to the following students:

Auburn Middle School students Sarah Cassady, Hope Cassetty, Daisy Epling, Micah Page and Cassandra Townsend competed in the Mammoth Cave Regional Math Counts competition on Feb. 20 at WKU. The team finished 4^th in the region and Sarah Cassady qualified to compete at the state level on March 5 in Lexington. Math Counts is a competitive program where middle school students can earn valuable college scholarships. The team is coached by teacher Kimberly Cron

Finally, congratulations to middle school teacher Ms. April Engler! Ms. Engler was named the 2016 Conservation Teacher of the Year for her dedication to the principles of conservation both in and out of her science and agricultural classrooms. She was recently honored at the 2016 Environmental and Agricultural Awards Banquet in Russellville.
