Orthopedics Plus expands locations, services

Orthopedics Plus has been professionally providing physical therapy services in Russellville and the surrounding area for almost a decade. The location has changed, the training of the staff continues to advance, and the facilities are greatly improved and expanded, but the care given clients continues to be courteous, caring and professional.
Orthopedics Plus Physical Therapy is a privately owned outpatient practice founded in 2002. The company provides comprehensive physical therapy services for the residents of Logan, Todd, Butler, Christian and Allen counties and their neighbors. Orthopedics Plus has doctoral level and board certified clinical specialists on staff specializing in orthopedic, sports and electro-physiologic physical therapy. The clinical staff has over 75 years of combined expertise in delivering orthopedic and neurologic physical therapy. They utilize proven treatment techniques and state-of-the-art equipment to assist clients in their recovery.
The addition of Performance Plus Health & Fitness in an adjoining office in Russellville has added a state-of-the-art fitness center. Orthopedics Plus and Performance Plus share the same training equipment, but no medical issues or doctor’s orders are needed to participate in the activities and use the equipment of the fitness part of the business.
Performance Plus has six treadmills, five stationary bikes, three elipticals, a stepper, free weights and weight training machines for every major muscle group. After an orientation program, clients can work at their own speed or participate in group programs directed by staff members.
Sonja Milam, a 2001 graduate of Logan County High School who has a degree in exercise science from Western Kentucky University, is fitness director for Orthopedics Plus. She’s at the Russellville location Tuesdays,
Thursdays and Fridays. Other staff members are available on other days.
Group sessions include circuit training at 12:30 and 4:30 on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and metabolic syndrome workouts Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 a.m. for those with one or more conditions such as high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes.
Performance Plus is open from 7 a.m.- 8 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
Orthopedics Plus provides rehabilitative services for both non-operative and post-operative conditions that include: neck and back pain, sprains and strains, joint pain, foot pain - custom foot orthotics, fractures, ligament repair and/or reconstruction, tendon repair and/or reconstruction, joint replacement, spinal surgery, hand surgery, work-related injuries, neurologic conditions (CVA, etc.), balance dysfunction and vestibular conditions.
High school event coverage and musculoskeletal screens are provided to student athletes representing Logan County, Russellville, Butler County, Todd County, and Allen County-Scottsville High Schools.
Not only is physical therapy available for those who are injured at work, but Orthopedics Plus is also available to help companies avoid injuries to their employees. The physical therapists at Orthopedics Plus Physical Therapy, Inc. have looked to WorkWell's Isernhagen Work Systems of Aliso Viejo, Cal. to find ways that will help reduce injuries in the workplace. IWS serves as the consultant and local therapists are trained to use their techniques on the job site for employees and job applicants.

Michael Kennedy received his master’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Kentucky in 1998. He provides physical therapy services at the Russellville location and serves as the clinical director. Previously having served as clinical director at Vanderbilt Sports Medicine in Nashville, he has a special interest in rehabilitation of the shoulder and knee and sports related pathologies.
Keishia Embry is a 2011 graduate from the University of Kentucky School of Physical Therapy with a doctoral degree in Physical Therapy. She received her bachelors degree from WKU. She is a native of Butler County. She has a special interest in disorders of the spine and pediatric physical therapy.
Kyle McPherson received his Associates of Applied Science Degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant from Madisonville Community College in May 2008. He assists with providing physical therapy services at our Russellville location. He has an interest in treating patients with pathologies of the knee, shoulder, and spine.
“We work with over 30 insurance companies and are a Medicare provider. Many companies often cover physical therapy without doctors’ orders,” says Jase Pinerola, who heads Orthopedics Plus. He’s not only a businessman but also is a highly trained physical therapist who received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Kentucky in May 2009 and his bachelor's degree in physical therapy from the University of Kentucky in 1990. He is a board certified sports and electrophysiologic physical therapist. He is a state and nationally certified athletic trainer and certified strength and conditioning specialist.
