Former Russellville Schools Administrator Clarence Gamble, who was both a principal and a Central Office staff member, is serving as president of the Third District Retired Teachers Association. He is a graduate of Olmstead High School.

The Third District includes Todd, Muhlenberg, Ohio, Butler, Logan, Warren, Edmonson, Barren, Simpson, Allen, Monroe, Cumberland and Metcalfe counties.

Their fall meeting was recently held at Barren River State Lodge.

Delegates from Russellville/Logan County Retired Teachers are shown in the accompanying picture. Shown, from left, are Secretary Sue Wood, Evelyn Miller, Treasurer Karen Milliken, Doug Milliken, Third District President Clarence Gamble, Judy Wilson and RLCRTA President Tom Thompson.

The Russellville/Logan County Retired Teachers Association is active in community projects. Four major donations are made annually.  In March and September money is collected and distributed to Russellville and Logan County Resource Centers to help meet needs of students. In the summer, many bags of nonperishable food is collected for the summer backpack program.  At Christmas, toys are collected for Bro. Joe's Family Christmas.

Retirement does not stop teachers from helping students--it provides more time for mentoring and volunteering.   Thousands of volunteer hours are recorded each year with youth and adults. Contributions are made to scholarship funds and KET.

RLCRTA is an integral part of our state and local community.
