A career in web design, a talent for drawing, and a love of sports have combined for a new type of computerized artwork by native Logan Countian Trey Turner.

For several weeks now, he has been drawing computerized portraits of individuals, using a computer mouse as his medium. The screen becomes his pallet.

The portrait, which is neither a cartoon nor a caricature, is a compilation of hundreds, maybe thousands, of lines, creating a drawing of the subject. Turner works intently on shadowing, tone, facial expressions, and countless other details.

A typical drawing takes him from four to eight hours.

His first creation came at the request of Deandre ‘Pedro’ Bradhaw, a Mr. Basketball candidate playing for Russellville High School.

Most of his artwork has featured athletes and coaches from his beloved alma mater, Western Kentucky University. The WKU football players love his work and often send him requests for portraits of themselves.

He also has done portraits of children, often putting them in costumes of characters similar to the ones they love.

Trey Turner had an outstanding athletic career at Logan County High School. He averaged a double-double his senior basketball season in scoring and rebounding. He is the only player from either LCHS or RHS to be a two-time Kentucky Nike HoopStar, and is one of only three former Cougars to play NCAA basketball. He also began lettering in Cougar tennis as a sixth grader and became Logan’s number one player.

He has worked as a lead web developer and web designer for several companies, and he teaches computer classes in college.

This week he is offering digital portraits for people to purchase as Christmas gifts. All he needs is a clear picture of the person, whether a child, an athlete or an adult.

Computerized artwork this week is $25, which must be prepaid.
