Olmstead Elementary Academic team members place in district and region

The Olmstead Elementary School Academic team recently competed in the district and regional Kentucky Governor’s Cup Competitions. 

The district competition was held Feb. 11 at Lincoln Elementary School in Franklin.

Olmstead’s individual winners included math:  Calista Petrie – 1st place, Brennan Christmas 2nd place, Jaden Rager – 3rd place; Science – Matthew Taylor 3rd place, Paul Quincy Perez 5th place; Social Studies – Matthew Taylor – 2nd place, Peyton Daugherty – 4th place; Written Composition – Calista Petrie 1st place, Peyton Daugherty 2nd place, Isabel Baker – 4th place; Language Arts – Lindy Mitchell – 4th place; Laura Brown – 5th place; Arts and Humanities – Lexi Thurston – 3rd place. 

The quick recall team placed first overall.  Members of the quick recall team are Calista Petrie, Brennan Christmas, Matthew Taylor, Lexi Thurston, Paul Quincy Perez, Isabel Baker, Sarah Gill, Peyton Daugherty, Jaden Rager, Lindy Mitchell, Laura Brown, McKenna Mayhew, Nick Lovitt, and Tripp Wadlington. The team placed first out of four schools in the 18th district. 

Students moved on to regional competition held Saturday, March 4, in Hopkinsville where they competed against the winners from 16 schools. 

Olmstead’s individual winners included math: Brennan Christmas – 1st place , Calista Petrie – 2nd place, Jaden Rager – 3rd place; Science – Matthew Taylor – 1st place, Social Studies – Matthew Taylor – 1st place; Language Arts – Lindy Mitchell – 4th place. 

The quick recall team placed 1st and the team was the overall winner at the regional competition.
