As part of “The Tassel is Worth the Hassle!,” the 2nd Annual Russellville High School 2017 March Madness Party - ACT Prep Incentive Program was held on Thursday, and Friday, March 16-17. In an effort to commend the students for working hard and to make them aware of the fact RHS is proud of them, the students “earned” time at the March Madness Party!

Time qualifying criteria was based on a variety of activities/actions related to ACT Prep: Effort on 1st scrimmage ACT (30 minutes); Completing “My Goals” Document (30 minutes); Sanctioned ACT Saturday prep session (1 hour); Effort on 2nd scrimmage ACT (30 minutes); Dedication time (up to 2 hours); Reward for ongoing dedication in regular classroom and ACT prep, distributed at RTI Teacher discretion; Effort on final scrimmage ACT - meeting goal or benchmark on final scrimmage (2 hours).

A senior that fit the above criteria, qualified them for a ticket for entry into the March Madness Party for Thursday, and any College Ready Senior or Career Ready Senior qualified for entrance on Friday. This party was designed to reward and propel students to make history at RHS.

The theme consisted of the fact that RHS cares about their students, they want them here and focused on their future, and desire that they take advantage of their educational opportunity!

The gym doors opened at 10 a.m. each day. Students were required to have a ticket to enter. At the party, students were able to participate in this Two-Day Event coinciding with Round 2 of the NCAA Basketball Tournament. The NCAA Tournament Games were “televised” on the JumboTron. The Sophomore/Junior NCAA Tournament Bracket Competition was online.

They were served pizza on Thursday, and “off the grill” on Friday. Students were able to enjoy a Board Game Area, and Corn Hole Tournament. Gift card drawings happened every 30 minutes thanks to the following generous donors: Wal-Mart, Pizza Hut, Dominos, Sylfoni’s, Slappyz, Dairy Queen, McDonalds, Taco Bell, Sonic, Arby’s, and Ski Daddy’s. Each student’s entry ticket was used for the drawing.

This was very successful last year, and this year the students once again enjoyed the time of reward and recognition. Students earned time at the March Madness Party!
