Agronomy competitors lead Logan FFA at WKU

On April 18, Logan County FFA took 45 members and officers to WKU’s Ag Farm to compete in team contests, such as livestock judging, equine Science, floriculture, forestry and others. Individual competitions included job interview and seed identification and in demonstration competitions such as horticulture and agriculture mechanics. The competitions and team members are listed below:

Agriculture Mechanics: Cooper Covington, Jack Wright, and DJ Price

Agronomy: Kate Mallott, Bella Bond, Lindsay Allen, and Mathew Edgar

Welding: Briar Webb, Trevor McIntosh, and Jon-Layton Blick

Dairy Judging: Jacob Haley, Evan Hughes, Sam Noe, Meredith Johnson

Entomology: Briley Robinson

Equine Science: Jailyn Campbell, Chandler Silvey, Daisie Dean, Ethan Robey

Farm Management: Andrew Milam, Zach Brinkley, Luke Davenport, and Claire Wilson

Floriculture: Rachel Taylor, Hannah Price, Maggie Hayes, and Ellie Delaney

Forestry and Natural Resources: Blake Taylor

Horticulture: Leah Crossley, Jordyn Belcher

Job Interview: Caroline Davenport

Livestock Judging: Zach Milam, Jessalyn Robey, Meleea Reno, Harrison Wilson

Meats: Sean Fuller

Nursery/Landscape: Hannah Mimms, Caroline Baker, and Kennedy Campbell

Seed ID: Ashlyn Tracey

Soil Evaluation: Colten Coomer, Jordan Baer, Noah Rust, and Korbin DeBerry

Parliamentary: Micah Page, Hayley Holman

The Agronomy team won their competition. The team consisted of Matthew Edgar, Kate Mallott, Bella Bond and Lindsey Allen. 

Matthew Edgar placed second as an individual for Agronomy. 

All of the teams that competed worked hard and diligently to become knowledgeable in their ag area of expertise.
