Chandlers School offers summer opportunities for students

This summer, the staff of Chandlers School offered free hot lunches to students two days each week from early June through mid-July.  The program was open to all children from birth to 21 years old, regardless of whether the child qualified for free or reduced lunch during the school year.  The program was implemented by the school’s Cafeteria Manager, Sherry Forgy.

On each Thursday of the Summer Program, students could stay for an extra 2 hours after eating to participate in fun educational activities.  These activities were led by Chandlers staff members on a volunteer basis.  Activities included programming robots, reading books, learning about internet safety, and taking a field trip to the Logan County Public Library.  The students were also visited by the staff of the Carpenter Center, who led students in fitness activities.

Robbie Davis, principal at Chandlers School, wishes to thank staff members for volunteering their summer time to work with students, as well as the Carpenter Center and Logan County Public Library.  She also appreciates the support of parents who brought their students to school to participate in the program.
