Prom

Prom was a rousing success as students danced the night away in the deGraffenried foyer of RHS. Students were welcomed by a red carpet entrance and then enjoyed a fun filled evening that lasted from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Panther Choice Awards

This Monday at 6 p.m., students, teachers, and family members will gather in the deGraffenried foyer to honor students chosen by their teachers to be recognized for their contributions to RHS and RMS.

Incoming 6th Grade parent Meeting Scheduled

On Thursday, May 10, at 5:30 p.m. in the deGraffenried uditorium, there will be a parent meeting for any and all parents of current 5th graders who would like information about the upcoming school year. This will include an introduction to the 6th grade staff, information about schedules, sports, extracurricular activities, and much more.

JROTC Awards and Honors

Russellville JROTC, a co-JROTC group with Logan County High School, enjoyed a recognition of awards and accomplishments. Several RHS seniors are already committed to various branches of the military. They are:

Bryce Bollenbecker – Navy, Navy SEALs

Cole Celsor – Army

Kobe Kerr – USMC

Logan Long – USMC

Band Puts on a Show at Stevenson

The RHS Marching Band traveled to Stevenson Elementary this past Friday where they put on a performance for the stdednts of Stevenson. Under the direction of Brian Brown and Assistant Band Director Trevor Cardwell, the Band participation numbers at the Elementary level have swelled. This year’s 5th grade band numbered in the 40’s and the upcoming 5th grader band could be even larger.

Middle Schoolers Enjoy Rewards Trip

A group of RMS Middle Schoolers traveled to Bowling Green as a rewards program for their academic and behavioral excellence. Students traveled to the Skate Box in Bowling Green and then enjoyed lunch at the park.

Sports Happenings                                   

Middle School Cheer

Middle School Cheer, now under new Head Coach Heather Osborne, will practice on Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30 – 4:30 and will hold tryouts on Friday from 3:30 – 5:00 with a Parent Meeting to follow directly afterwards. For questions regarding MS Cheer, parents can contact Coach Osborne at heather.osborne@russellville.kyschools.us

Softball

This week, softball travels to Franklin on Tuesday, hosts Hopkinsville on Thursday.

On Saturday, the Lady Panthers traveled to Owensboro where they played three games in the All A State Tournament. While the Lady Panthers did not emerge victorious, it was very notable that the Panthers at times had an infield that featured numerous middle schoolers and freshman. The future is bright for this group!

 Tennis

Russellville Tennis welcomes Franklin-Simpson on Tuesday.

From the past week, Tennis has some great individual and team performances:

Fernanda Rodriguez won her against Butler County.

Catilyn Patton won her match against Butler County.

Jayce Buchner won her singles match against Butler County.

Layne Steele won against Butler County.

Javier Canales and Shaun Steele won their doubles match over Butler County.

Baseball  

The RHS Baseball team picked up two big wins this past weekend. The Panthers took down visiting Caverna 12-0 and 10-0 in a doubleheader on Saturday.

This week, they are home against Todd County on Tuesday, Travel to Edmonson Countyon Thursday and welcome Butler County on Friday.  

The RMS Baseball team is home against UHA on Monday, at Todd County on Thursday, and at UHA on Saturday.
Soccer

RHS and RMS Soccer off season workouts are now in full swing. This will be for girls and boys players. Anyone interested in knowing more may contact Coach Rust at:Jeremy.rust@logan.kyschools.us
