On Thursday, Feb. 13, Mrs. Nancy Skipworth and Ms. Bethanie Hargett-Slack accompanied RHS students to the “IdeaFestival Bowling Green 2019:  The Future is Now” event.  It was held in the historic Van Meter Hall and Downing Student Union at Western Kentucky University.

IdeaFestival Bowling Green is an annual one-day event organized by The Center for Gifted Studies to bring together Kentucky's creative thinkers and ambitious innovators sharing their BIG ideas. Modeled-on and in agreement with Louisville's IdeaFestival, IFBG features speaker panels and hands-on activities targeted towards the region's most curious and motivated junior high and high school students. It involves speakers, minds-on, hands-on activities, sponsors, past festival ideas, and student engagement materials.

This year the students had opportunity to learn about Black history, the measure of intelligence, creating space for the future, chasing dreams, futuristic entrepreneurship, design thinking, recycling, video game design, 3-D printing, and more.

Those students that attended were: Milo Brooks, Addilyn Cundiff, Dominica Flowers, Blaine Holley, Makiyah Morrow, May Ouansombath, Ethan Paddock, Colin Sietchnik, Emily Stapleton, Jennifer Wilkerson, Cody Williams, Chelsea Kerr, Karlee Elroy, Bryant Garcia, Emma Grace Gwynette, Diedre Hester, Madison Hyams, Jayden Hammer, Brandy West, Rob Skipworth, Margaret Strader, Maleah Buckner, and Katie Ray Holloman
